Asian Parents Have The Sex Talk With Their Daughters As Adults

– Oh my god I’m gonna throw up!
– Hi I’m Zan, and I’m calling my mom today
to ask her about sex.
– My mom and I have not
really talked about sex.
I think she tried one
time and I shut it down.
– I don’t think I’ve ever said
the word, “Sex,” to my dad.
Ha!
– So what am I in for here,
because I have no idea
what you’re gonna do?
– How much did you talk
about sex growing up?
– I don’t think we even had
sex ed in the high school
that I went to, mainly
it was just reading,
and encyclopedias.
– You learned about sex
from an encyclopedia?
– Yeah the Encyclopedia
Britannica actually has
a really good section.
(laughs)
– When you and mom realized
you had to teach me about sex,
what were your thoughts?
– We went to a Methodist
Church that had a sex ed class,
and we signed you up
as quickly as we could.
Mom and I sat in the back, and we watched
the whole presentation,
and I think they did a–
– You guys were in the back?
I can’t believe you guys were
in my sex ed class with me,
and I didn’t even know it.
– What are the things that
you want me to know about sex?
Do you have any tips for sex?
Which movies?
Titanic?
– Are you or mom better at sex?
(laughs)
– Never separate the two,
we’re both pretty good.
(laughs)
– Oh my god, do you guys still have sex?
– Yes.
(laughs)
– Not really, I’m good.
– Thanks so much for doing this dad.
I know it’s like weird and uncomfortable.
– All right, love you.
– Love you too, bye.
– That was intense.
I need to like, just kinda let it cool.
– She made me laugh until I cried.
– I was so nervous about this,
and it actually went pretty well.
– I really appreciate
that my mom was like,
“Oh,” because I was like, “Mom,
see I’m a grown person now,
“I could ask you this,” and
she was like, “Yeah you are,
“so let’s talk about it.”
– It makes you love and
appreciate your parents even more,
’cause you see them as human,
and even as kind of your friend in a way.
